NP-Bacto-Balance

Mix of select organic compounds to promote the integration of nitrates and phosphates in additional biomass.

Product description

The nutrient ratios for corals and sponges in reef tanks are ideal when nitrates and phosphates are present in the lowest concentrations. Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance uses a mix of select organic carbon compounds and suitable inorganic nutrients to promote the natural integration of nitrates and phosphates into additional biomass. This lowers the nutrients in the water and simultaneously prevents deficiencies of nitrates or phosphates. Both the colour and growth in corals, sponges and other filter feeders are visibly improved.

Nitrates and phosphates can be stabilised especially effectively at the lowest level when Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance is used in conjunction with Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Pellets or Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Tricks. These are easy-to-use filter media made from organic biopolymers for fluid bed reactors, or trickle filters.

Store in a cool, dry place.

Application & Dosage

Dosing is based on the age of the aquarium:

For new and young tanks (0-1 year*), no more than 0.25 ml per 100 l of tank content should be administered daily. For tanks of medium age (1-2 years*), up to 0.5 ml/100 l can be dosed daily, and for mature and older units (>2 years*), between 0.5 and 1 ml per 100 l aquarium water. A dose of 1 ml per 100 l of aquarium content should not be exceeded under any circumstances.

*Age specifications are approximate guide values; classification depends more specifically on the stability of the tank.

At the beginning of dosing Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto Balance, the phosphate concentration should be between 0.02 mg/ l and 0.1 mg/ l. If the phosphate concentration is too low, we recommend dosing with Tropic Marin® Plus NP, and for higher concentrations of phospate, dose with Tropic Marin® Elimi NP.

To enhance the effect of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance, the daily dose can be increased by 0.25 ml per 100 l tank content every two weeks, though never exceeding the maximum dosage of 1 ml/100 l daily. Administer the concentrate to a spot in the aquarium where the current is strong. It is best added at the beginning of the lighting phase. If cloudiness occurs after increasing the dose of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance, it is recommended to return to the previous dosage.

Dosing calculator

Trace elements of Tropic Marin® K+ Elements are already present in the product. However, adding another 1 ml/100 l Tropic Marin® K+ Elements can have a positive effect on the colour of the corals.

For a full supply of micronutrients, we also recommend adding Tropic Marin® A- Elements to supplement missing trace minerals such as iodine, bromine, fluoride, vanadium, molybdenum and selenium. In this case, add the same amount of Tropic Marin® A- Elements that you used of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance and Tropic Marin® K+ Elements together.
